The Gay Pride Celebration Committee of San Jose, Inc. (GPCCSJ, Inc.), more commonly known as San Jose PRIDE, primarily serves the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community of the Silicon Valley. For 37 years, San Jose Pride has been dedicated to protecting the rights and liberties of the LGBT community through provided public education and passionately helping our neighbors with community outreach initiatives and programs, through our partnership with other local organizations that specialize in providing social services. We touch the lives of many, spanning youth to the elderly. Our core audience remains ages eighteen (18) to sixty (60). Ethnic backgrounds span the globe, while some of the more prevalent nationalities include: Hispanic, Asian, Black, Pacific Islander, American Indian and Causation. Although an estimate, GPCCSJ, Inc. interacted with more than 15,000 people in a calendar year, over 7,000 at the San Jose PRIDE festival weekend alone.
The primary mission of San Jose PRIDE is to provide lesbians, gay men, bisexuals transgender persons and Queer individuals, and members of the Silicon Valley community with cultural and educational programs and activities which enhance personal health, provide social support, and foster an awareness of the past and present contributions of LGBTQ individuals and families through community activities and services, including an annual PRIDE Festival and Parade. The PRIDE Festival is the largest in the Silicon Valley, and is a celebration of LGBTQ acceptance and history, which also features entertainment, vendors, food, and fun for everyone, young and old.
