Shelley Graham Turner, Teaching Artist

I am a teaching artist working with children of ALL ages. I especially love working with young artists - they’re just so free in their creativity!

I mean come on, is there anything better than watching young children create? Children create with such freedom, they don’t need an end goal like we seem to as adults. They just enjoy the process – it’s a beautiful thing to witness.

I count it a blessing that I can be part of their process. Watching them explore and experiment is a true joy.  Teaching them about the elements of art,  introducing them to different art materials and techniques, then, watching them take off on their own – it’s so rewarding

It’s why I teach.

In addition classes/workshops and special events taught at my own space (housed at OOAK Artisan Showcase, 425 W Thomas St, Suite 1A in Rome, NY), I also teach programs at Jervis Public Library and the Treehouse Reading and Art Center (NYMills, NY).

I offer private one-on-one art instruction (for children) and soon I will be adding weekday sessions with preschooler, and art just for homeschoolers!

OH, can't forget the BIRTHDAY parties and group activities (for Scouts and other groups)!

You can contact me by email at teaching.artist.here@gmail.com or by telephone at (315) 351-2558.
