Shakespeare on-the-Rocks
Shakespeare on-the-Rocks has been presenting classical theater for El Paso audiences since 1981. It is dedicated to presenting the best of classical Shakespearean theater for local audiences and visitors. First presented at McKelligon Canyon Amphitheater where it continued through 2003, the festival has since been held at numerous venues, both indoors and outdoors, including the Chamizal National Memorial, Ysleta ISD Amphitheater, and EPCC Forum Theater. The repertory includes 14 of the Bard’s plays and Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus. Audience favorites, such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, have been presented in many seasons. Shakespeare on-the-Rocks is produced by Eden Performing Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. In September 2022, a pilot project, Shakespeare in Madeline Park, debuted with a free production of As You Like It.
