Scott Fleming, Spiritual Care Supervisor

Scott A. Fleming has been a chaplain for over a decade and most recently serves as the Spiritual Care Supervisor at Health Central Hospital. He has served in both community hospitals and level 1 trauma centers.  His congregational experience includes ministry as supply pastor, youth minister, and associate pastor. Scott also serves as a pastoral consultant, workshop facilitator, professor, clinical ethicist, and avid community volunteer.

Chaplain Fleming is a board certified clinical chaplain, pastoral counselor, and clinical fellow within the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy, holds credentials as a Traumatic Stress Consultant with the Institute for Traumatic Stress, and has been certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional with the International Association of Trauma Professionals. In addition, Chaplain Fleming is a Fellow with the Association for Death Education and Counseling and a member of many related professional organizations such as the  the Association for Professional Chaplains, American Association of Pastoral Counselors,  and the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities. 

A scholar of pastoral theology, Chaplain Fleming believes it is a vital discipline within clinical chaplaincy. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from The Baptist College of Florida, a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and is a Doctor of Ministry in Care and Counseling candidate from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has completed four units (1,600 hours) of clinical pastoral training within trauma centers, community hospitals,  and the parish setting.  He has received extensive experience and training in trauma, disaster spiritual care, and crisis intervention and management.
