Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world. Through the Scholastic Awards, teens in grades 7–12 from public, private, or home schools can apply in 29 categories of visual art and writing for their chance to earn scholarships and have their works exhibited and published. Just a few or our illustrious Alumni include Kay WalkingStick, Andy Warhol, Charles White, Truman Capote, Luis Jiménez, Joyce Carol Oates, Mozelle Thompson, Robert Redford, Sylvia Plath, Hughie Lee-Smith, Paul Chan, Richard Linklater, Marc Brown, and Zac Posen. In 2017, the Scholastic Awards received more than 330,000 submissions from students nationwide. The Scholastic Awards distribute more than $250,000 in direct scholarships annually.
