SBRINZ

Husband and wife and partners, Natalie and Jason Horwath, had the wonderful opportunity to live in Switzerland for 3 1/2 years. The country is amazing - from its well-marked hiking trails to breathtaking views and unforgettable skiing.

The food is also unforgettable - so much so, that Natalie and Jason committed to bringing the quality food experience and community spirit of Switzerland's stublis to the Bay Area when they moved home in 2013.

Natalie and Jason's close friend of many years, Amy Schmidt, is also a partner and is the reason the pop-ups started in the first place. It was at Amy's home back in November 2014 that we had our first 'pop-up' with close friends - it was so much fun we couldn't wait for the next moment to do it again.

The name, Sbrinz, came about from our time in Switzerland. "Sbrinz" is one of the country's oldest cheese varieties and the first one to be shared outside the country.  It's a firm and aromatic cheese made from alpine cows' milk - great for snacking or as part of a charcuterie plate.  A famous hiking route also bears the same name - "Via Sbrinz."   The name evokes the alpine spirit of this beautiful region and is a constant reminder of our culinary, outdoor, and life adventures in Switzerland.
