Russian Film Week in New York 2018

Russian Film Week in New York 2018 is an annual showcase of both independent and artistic films that represents the dynamic landscape of Russian film-making today. The event, that will take place in New York City December 7-14, 2018 is presented by the Rock Studio Films (Russia) and the Cherry Orchard Festival (USA) and will include film screenings, discussions and Q&As with renowned film directors, actors, and producers, panels with journalists, VIP receptions and public meet-the-artist events. 

About the presenters:

Rock Studio Films (Russia)  was founded by director Alexey Uchitel in 1991. Since then the Studio has produced 45 films, both feature and documentaries. Our films received over 100 awards at different international film festivals and were distributed theatrically both in Russia and abroad. They include The Major (Cannes IFF) and The Fool (Locarno IFF) by Yury Bykov, More by Alexandra Strelyanaya (Karovy Vary IFF) and others. Apart from film production, Rock Films is behind 2 festivals – Message To Man in Saint Petersburg and Russian Film Week in London.

Cherry Orchard Festival ( is a leading independent international arts organization with a solid reputation for presenting musical performances, theatrical productions, multi-disciplinary performing and visual arts attractions by a stunning array of global artists to audiences in US. The inaugural Festival took place in May 2013. Now embarking on its 7th season, the festival has presented 55+ unique world-class events, concerts and theatrical performances to over 90,000 audience members.

The  mission of the Cherry Orchard Festival is to initiate and promote global cultural activity and exchange of ideas to an inter-generational audiences through entertaining and educational programming and events in all genres.

We believe that high-quality, thought-provoking performances, at the cutting edge of artistic creation, build bridges between cultures and promote dialogue among artists and audiences of diverse backgrounds. Supported by the Cherry Orchard Festival Foundation, the Festival has grown in scope and reputation, and remains committed to providing the finest entertainment, exceptional musical performances and enlightening educational programs to our patrons.

SVA Theatre is the cultural center of New York’s artistically-vibrant Chelsea neighborhood. The Theatre serves the School of Visual Arts, the arts and entertainment industries, and the community at large as a stage for the presentation of noteworthy artistic work.
