Rotary Club of Grosse Ile

The Rotary Club of Grosse Ile was chartered on April 1, 1947.  It was the first service organization in Grosse Ile, and has been involved in many initiatives locally and internationally through Rotary International.  Rotary is a global organization which has been working to fight disease such as the eradication of polio, promote peace, provide clean water, sustaining maternal and child health, supporting education through literacy, and growing local economies.  In our community the Rotary Club was the founding sponsor to the local Boy Scouts.  Some other groups and organizations that Grosse Ile Rotary participates with and supports are Grosse Ile Music Boosters, Grosse Ile High School Marching Band, Grosse Ile Rowing Club, Student Scholarship Award, Citizen of the Year Recognition, Island Directory, providing educational and outdoor activities for underprivileged and disadvantaged youth, and many more.  On an international level, the Grosse Ile Rotary Club supports the Guatemal Literacy Project, Children of the Dump in Nicaragua, Madina Village School in Sierra Leone and others.
