The RMIT Library Services runs Study Know How Programs before the Semester starts in a range of Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Statistics topics.  these workshops are designed to assist students to improve their skills in these 

Maths Preparation Workshops

Maths Workshop 1: Monday, 21 January to Friday, 25 January 2019

This workshop is aimed at students commencing VCE or VE Maths Programs.  It is a program designed to develop essential Maths skills for first year maths programs in Engineering, Geospatial, Applied Science and other courses containing Maths.

Maths Workshop 2: Monday, 11 February to Friday, 15 February 2019

This workshop is aimed at students commencing Higher Education Maths Programs.  It is a program designed to develop essential Maths skills for first year maths programs in Engineering, Geospatial, Applied Science and other courses containing Maths.

The two Programs above are essentially self paced.  Students may choose to attend either or both of the above. 

Physics Preparation Workshops

Physics Workshop 1: Monday, 28 January to Thursday, 31 January 2019

This Workshop is aimed at students who have not studied Physics before and are starting a course requiring basic physics. 

Physics Workshop 2: Monday, 18 February to Thursday, 21 February 2019

This Physics Workshop is a more advanced Physics Program aimed at students who have studied some Physics and wish to improve their skills before commencing their course.

 Chemistry Preparation Workshops

 Chemistry Workshop 1: Monday, 28 January to Thursday, 31 January 2019

This is an Introductory Program covering, “The Nature of Chemistry, States of Matter, the Periodic Table, Electronic structure of atoms/molecules, Bonding, Balancing chemical reactions, Stoichiometry, and Problem Solving”.

 Chemistry Workshop 2: Monday, 18 February to Thursday, 21 February 2019

This is a more detailed discussion of the chemical principles underlying atomic/molecular structure, chemical bonding, polarity, solubility & solutions, acid/base and redox chemistry, plus a series of Problem Solving sessions.   This program concludes with an introduction to Laboratory Techniques in the First-Year Laboratory, 12.13.005 

 Advanced Maths Workshop: Monday, 4 February to Friday, 8 February 2019

This Workshop is based on the solutions of Differential Equations.  It is aimed at students who have completed an Advanced Diploma in engineering and will be commencing a Higher Education Engineering course

Statistics Workshops

Workshop 1: Tuesday, 29 January to Thursday, 31 January 2019

Statistics for Students commencing Business and Psychology Programs in 2019.

Statistics for HE Business Statistics and Psychology students

Topics such as summation notation, basic probability, sample spaces, binomial and normal distributions and hypothesis testing will be covered.

Workshop 2: Monday, 18 February to Thursday, 20 February 2019

Statistics for Students commencing Business and Psychology Programs in 2019.

Topics such as summation notation, basic probability, sample spaces, binomial and normal distributions and hypothesis testing will be covered.
