Evie Rhodes was born in Newark, New Jersey. She authored the book, “EXPIRED” which was critically acclaimed to be “One of a Kind!” Black Issues Book Review called Rhodes a Master writer, gifted and skillful. Romantic Times Book Reviews said of her work it holds the reader’s attention as if the pages are magnetized. Evie is now making her first foray into the theatrical world of Off Broadway Theater with her searing Stage Play, “Looking Through the Stained Glass Window” a witty and illuminating coming of age story about Crystal Waterman a forgotten, Black, female voice in 1992 during the AIDS epidemic. The explosive portrayal explores the cyclical effects of trauma and addiction through reflection and humor in the middle of Harlem’s Hip Hop era. Evie Rhodes is a Social Activist at heart, and her many works speak to her love of humanity. Cumberland County Library in New Jersey noted her in honor of Black History Month to be among the most respected and acclaimed voices in contemporary AfricanAmerican history.
