Ras T Asheber Singer/songwriter/producer/recording/performance artist Roots Rock Reggae crossover with a strong lyrical statement.
Music is the Food...
Ras T has been doing his thang since being a member of a famous H.S. Boys Choir and since has developed a mature fusion which reflects Asheber’s well-listened ear and his tenure with Spunky, Jimson, Simeon, One Word and Defiant Ones...
Ras T Asheber and his crew have appeared on the same bill with internationally renown acts including Jimmy Cliff, Toots & the Maytals, The Wailers, Dr. John, NRBQ, Third World, Steel Pulse, P Funk, Sister Carol, Spin Doctors, and The Dave Matthews Band. They have played the hottest venues in the Northeast including The Chance, UPAC, Joyous Lake, Bearsville Theatre, Northern Lights, and major outdoor fetes such as Riverfest, Clearwater, Kingston Maritime Festival, and Woodstock Reggae Fest. This fine group also plays New York City nightclubs, and colleges and universities all over the northeast.
The music - the majority of which is composed by Jamaican born singer/songwriter/producer/recording & performance artist Ras T- has its roots in traditional Roots Rock Reggae, spiced with various crossover "seasonings" ranging from World, Hip Hop R&B, & Funk Rock, with a strong lyrical statement... "A truth 'an rights I an' I a profess, by any means necessary."
This is truly an updated approach to reggae music (Roots Rock if U please), showcasing a fresh amalgam of tunes and players of various backgrounds to concoct this pulsating sound.
The live repertoire is crisp and stimulating. Visually and musically Ras T and Asheber Posse "jus' come fi nice up di place" - they really rock 'n' groove together and so do all who experience them.
The social commentary of Ras T Asheber is influenced by the times we live in and the runnin's / drama experienced in every day life.
