Raquel Toledo,MA[IUS], M.Ed.- Founder and President of A Gift of Value

Raquel Toledo is a passionate woman who aims to live a bold and purposeful life.  Her passion to live life without fears or regrets have enabled her to achieve being a leader, counselor, teacher, motivational speaker, event coordinator and the founder of A Gift of Value • Un Regalo de Valor amongst other dexterities. 

In March 2013 she launched the foundation A Gift of Value a non profit organzition designed to reach out to young girls and women. AGOV is organized to teach, mentor, and empower girls, young ladies, and women to value themselves, to embrace good morals, to overcome obstacles, and to influence their communities in meaningful ways. The foundation is achieving this goal through partnership with churches, schools, and colleges; distribution of educational resources; organization of events, retreats, and seminars; and involvement of young men, couples, parents, and other family members in activities to strengthen the family unit. 

Raquel is proud of being the first generation in her family to receive various college degrees.  She received her under grad degree in Education from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, IL. and in 2008 a Master’s degree in Human Services and Counseling from DePaul University in Chicago, IL.  As part of her practicum she completed an internship at YWCA where she counseled sexual assault survivors.In May 2016 she completed her second Master's degree in Intercultural and Urban Studies from Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. Her thesis include a qualitative research on the issue of Domestic Violence and the Church. This covers ongoing research which consist of testimonials and experiences of members of the clergy, leaders, survivors, victims and advocates within our Spanish speaking faith communities who shared their personal experiences through this research. Raquel's passion is teaching and as part of her thesis she and her husband David Toledo created the Life Savers Academy campaign to raise awareness about domestic violence through workshops and seminars.

Furthermore, Raquel has served as an educator in the Chicago Public School, in theological institutes and at her local church.  She worked for over twelve years as an Academic Advisor at Morton College in Cicero, IL. She has had the honor to hold local, district, and Midwest Regional Board executive positions in various non profit organizations in Chicago, IL.  Through the years, Raquel has had the privilege to give back to her community while volunteering with different non-profit organizations offering individual and family counseling and coordinating community events.  She has traveled across the United States, as well as internationally and served as a guest speaker for teachings, workshops and conferences.

 The fall of 2017 she and a team of twelve traveled to the country of Peru to bring workshops to survivors of sexual abuse and human trafficking on the topics of self-esteem, suicide and domestic violence awareness. As a speaker she speaks a word of restoration from her heart to the hearts that have been bullied, rejected, mistreated, abused, and oppressed with heartbreaking actions and destructive wordsShe shares lessons about the power of a positive attitude and the importance of transforming a victim mentality to victorious. One of her objectives is that the foundation A Gift of Value • Un Regalo de Valor empowers every young lady to understand the power of nurturing her inner beauty by restoring her heart, transforming her mind and empowering her life!
