Ramya Ramnarayan

Counted among the leading exponents of Bharatanatyam today, Ramya Ramnarayan combines legacy, expertise and experience. A protégé of two exponents of the dance form, Kalaimamani, SK Rajarathnam Pillai and Padmabushan Kalanidhi Narayanan, Ramya is recognized as a capable performer, choreographer, educator and a torch bearer of this art, who blends tradition with innovation.


Ramya is a “Kalaimamani” awardee, and is an ICCR empaneled artist. She has received other of awards to mention a few, “Nadanamamani”from Kartik Fine Arts, “Nrithya Seva Mani” from Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, and the prestigious Artist Fellowship Award for Choreography from National Endowment of Arts USA.


Ramya has performed and conducted lecture demonstrations at various schools, universities, colleges, museums, libraries under the auspicious of Young Audiences USA reaching out to over 10,000 audience members per year.  She was a visiting faculty at Rutgers University. Ms. Ramnarayan has performed in many prestigious venues such as the Madras Music Academy, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, Pentacle’s Fall Further, International Fringe Festival, Jacobs Pillow, Museum of art and design, NJPAC, IAAC, Asia Society and regularly at venues such as the Rutgers University, Muhlenburg College, Drew University, Stockton College of NJ, Lehigh University, Newark Museum, to mention a few.   


Ramya recently released a Bharatanatyam DVD at the 38th Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana. DVD - Guruvin Kural Amudam- A tribute to Guru the legendary Swamimalai Rajarathnam Pillai in his treasured voice, and choreography performed by Ramya.
