Police Athletic League (PAL) of North Miami was incorporated in 1997 with business and civic leaders, educators, and citizens of the North Miami Dade community. The program was recognized as a need for youth (ages 8-20) to be provided with supervision after school programs. It is known as a need for positive interaction between the police department and the youth of the community.
The main objective of the PAL program is to meet the needs of our youths through a variety of after school athletic and educational programs utilizing positive role models, such as police officers, educators, and community volunteers in informal settings other than the structured classroom environment. Some activities include basketball, softball, track and field, hockey, and chess. It also provides educational services, such as tutoring in English, Reading, and Math.
The PAL of North Miami is constantly striving to expand upon its programs to enhance the youth’s knowledge and broaden their experiences through the program’s services. Our goal is to instill the youth of the community with great health habits, great sportsmanship, and high moral and civic standards. We believe that through our efforts we will hold true to our slogan, “Filling playgrounds, not prisons”.
Police Athletic League (PAL) of North Miami is a youth crime prevention program that utilizes educational, athletic and recreational activities to create trust and understanding between police officers and youth.
