Platte County Children’s Trust

The Platte County Children’s Trust is a 501(c)3 organization that serves children in Platte County Missouri. The funds that we raise are used for expenses that the state or community service agencies do not cover. The annual golf tournament is the sole fund-raising event. The Children’s Trust Board of Directors are volunteers from the community and are not compensated for their services.

The funds we raise help pay for items a child may need that cannot be paid out of other funding sources. Examples of how some of the donations have been spent include: An eleven year old boy, who had no family and lived in a group home, received a bicycle for Christmas. We purchased a Boy Scout uniform for a child that wanted to join the scouts. Summer camp fees for foster kids wanting to attend camp. We purchased a soft comforter for a blind child who was in a facility for disabled children. Several teenage girls in foster care have used Trust funds to buy prom dresses. We purchased a wig for a teenager in foster care. Her scalp was burnt in a house fire and she wanted her hairstyle to look like other teenagers. Numerous children have received clothing when their clothing allowance of $240-$400 per year from the State did not cover changing sizes and seasons.

The trust also provides $100.00 to foster parents for each child newly placed in foster care as most children come into care with only to clothing they are wearing and little more. Trust Funds are also donated annually to the Platte County Sheriff’s Shop with a Deputy Holiday program and to the Platte County Clay County Foster Child Picnic.
