Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services SBIRT Project

The SBIRT grant is a five year grant awarded to the state of Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services by SAMHSA to provide early intervention and treatment services for people struggling with depression and substance use. SBIRT uses a comprehensive public health approach to serve Ohioans who may be struggling or at risk of a substance use disorder or depression problem. Our goal at the Ohio SBIRT Project is that any time any Ohioan interacts with a medical, mental or behavioral professional they will be appropriately screened for alcohol, other drugs, and depression and receive the necessary interventions. We currently travel the state to provide free SBIRT and Motivational Interviewing trainings, with free CEUS, to health systems interested in this integrated care model for best practices.
