NYC-DSA Bronx/Upper Manhattan Political Education Working Group
The role of our working group, as we see it, is to cultivate praxis—the web of connections between theory, action, and reflection that undergird any authentic democratic movement. It is praxis that anchors people to movements and drives left organizations forward. When such matters are separated, the result is ineffective action and politically impotent theory. Our organizing must be rooted in deep analyses of contemporary structures of power, something that theoretically informed inquiry can provide. Similarly, our ideas must emerge from and be in dialogue with the lived experience of those subject to structures of power. The resultant praxis will expand members’ political horizons. It will cultivate the tools necessary to formulate strategy and tactics capable of dismantling the various structures of oppression and exploitation, while building radical alternatives consistent with human liberation.
