ATLANTA, GA - The 5th Annual NPU-V Community Forum will be held on Saturday, October 28th at FanPlex Atlanta. The purpose of the forum is to learn about community issues and resources, share progress on neighborhood efforts, and continue mobilizing NPU-V residents and stakeholders for collective action which improves the well-being of community members, especially long term residents. The forum will focus on creating 1) a shared understanding of the root causes of community issues so that community members can continue generating actions that are more likely to create the desired changes in the community and 2) moderated panel discussions with NPU-V City Council and School Board candidates. Community partners and volunteers will serve as table facilitators during the forum supporting community members in having meaningful conversations.

A planning committee comprised of residents from each of the six NPU-V communities (Adair Park, Capitol Gateway, Mechanicsville, Pittsburgh, Peoplestown, Summerhill) plan the forum each year. The agenda is based on previous forum outcomes, current issues, and relevant topics directly impacting NPU-V. This year, in timely election season fashion, local candidates will be a part of the conversation. The FanPlex location was chosen specifically because it symbolizes the hope for an improved neighborhood by paying closer attention to what’s already here.

“Being proactive gives us the ability to claim ownership of the narrative. We are most intimately connected to the neighborhoods we live in, so our voices should be welcomed when identifying areas of opportunity.” ~Durand Bailey (Adair Park), NPU-V Community Forum Organizing Committee, Chair
