Nommo Kofi Diop


Born and raised in San Francisco, Nommo is a retired San Francisco Fire Department Firefighter. In 1991, shortly after joining SFFD, he was awarded a citation of merit for assisting with the Oakland Hills fire. In 2000, Nommo was a member of a SFFD unit that saved a man from a burning building. He is a lifelong resident of San Francisco’s Ocean View, Merced Heights, Ingleside district and an active volunteer as the Board President of the Southwest Community Corporation Directors of the IT Bookman Center, Past President of Second District PTA, and past co-chair of the African American Parent Advisory Council of San Francisco and volunteer at the Museum of the African Diaspora. He is married to Marnitha Haynes-Barnes and an active father of two sons and two daughters. Nommo received his B.A degree in Art (General Studio Practice) from San Jose State University 2000 and a member of Friendship West Baptist Church, Dallas, Tx
