New York Songwriters Collective

The New York Songwriters Collective is all about raising the level of each member’s songwriting craft AND helping them navigate the business and music industry as it exists today.

THE “COLLECTIVE SONG CLUB” Meet Up happens every other week - usually Wednesday evenings except for special nights. It takes place at Planet Studio NYC (www.planetstudionyc.com), 244 West 54th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue in Suite 800B on the 8th floor. It begins at 5:30PM so those heading home from work can stop in without it getting too late. Each session ends promptly at 8:30pm when the studio will go back into record mode for the evening schedule. Drop in at anytime up until 7:30pm during each session.  For more Song Club Info click HERE.

The Collective also holds one-day intensive weekend seminars to accommodate different schedules and lifestyles. Our next one day intensive workshop is featured on our website's front page, "The Songwriter On The Recording Studio".

Our workshops differ from most other offerings in that we invite guests from the music industry. Our recent "All You Need To Know About Song / Music Licensing" workshop featured Steven Scharf, Sr. VP of Creative for Carlin America Inc. and President of Steven Scharf Entertainment. Workshop participants had the opportunity to introduce themselves and play a song for review with Collective members receive first notice of all events before word hits the social media and other music sites.

We hold regular showcases for performing and non-performing songwriters at The Bitter End in New York's Greenwich VIllage. All full members are invited to each perform a song at these showcases. The proceeds of all our showcases go to benefit charitable organizations close to the needs of musicians and NYC like the Alliance for Coney Island, Autism Speaks. Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Foundation, The New York Cares Coat Drive and WhyHunger. We also try to help individuals in our local music and member community when the need arises.

We have RSS web feeds from ASCAP, BMI. SESAC along with other sites line Billboard, Digital Music Service and the Trichordist updating instantly with the latest news for songwriters.

The Collective is actively involved in the support of the rights of creators / songwriters and artists in the chaos that is the new music business landscape.

The Collective website is a social network within itself where members can set there own levels of interactivity and privacy. Post your shows - your songs - your videos! Make contact with established writers, producers, vocalists, artists seeking musicians, recording studios and music industry professionals who consult to offer their services.

In the truest sense of the meaning of a "Collective", you will be instrumental in this constantly evolving information site and supportive network for our members where all contribute to the vitality of the website and the organization.
