New Provider Certification

Provider certification is managed by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD), however the County Board can assist those starting the certification process by offering training and technical assistance.

Each provider must have 8 hours of training in 5 specific topics PRIOR to application to DODD.

These topics are:

  • Providers Role & Responsibilities
  • Introduction to Serving Individual with Developmental Disabilities
  • Universal Precautions
  • Individual Rights
  • Incidents Adversely Affecting Health & Safety (Major Unusual Incidents or “MUIs”)

In addition to these topics, a Provider must also hold a current certification in CPR and First Aid (this does not count toward the 8-hour total required).

All of these topics are offered by Developmental Disabilities of Clark County at very affordable prices.

Additional topics are offered by Developmental Disabilities throughout the year.  Please see our training calendar for more details. http://clarkdd.org/training-for-providers/
