Nell Tharpe MS, CNM, CRNFA, FACNM

Nell has been a Certified Nurse-Midwife since completing the program at State University of New York in 1986. She was in practice for nearly two decades before she received her Master of Science degree in Midwifery in 2003 from Philadelphia University.

Nell’s passion is bridging the gap between practice and theory. Her focus is ensuring women have access to the benefits of high quality midwifery care in every birth setting and across the continuum of perinatal and women’s health services.

Nell is the original author of Clinical Practice Guidelines for Midwifery and Women’s Health, now in it’s 5th edition.

What does she love about teaching? "I love the amazing midwives who come to my programs! I love to see them think through complex problems and grow through our engagement. Their curiosity and commitment to quality care for women, babies and families never ceases to amaze me!"
