My Kitchen Clatter
Andrea has been teaching pressure cooking, bread baking and preserving all over Chicagoland since 2012. Andrea worked as a civil engineer in the northwest subburbs of Chicago for 15 years before caring for her family took priority over the career. As a stay at home mom, she has learned she has a talent and love for teaching. While not a trained chef, she is focused on teaching realistic skills and recipes that will work in a home kitchen.
She is a home demonstrator with Bosch mixers, Nutrimil grain mills and Ankarsrum mixers. Her focuses of teaching are bread baking, preserving, pressure cooking and whole grain baking. You'll also occasionally catch her pickling everything in site. All of these are skills that she learned growing up on a small Iowa farm, through 4-H, and from baking with her German grandmother and mother. Her mother was a home-ec teacher way back when, so the apple does not fall far.
Andrea started My Kitchen Clatter in 2012 as a way to venture out of her own kitchen and help others learn the skills that they may not have learned as a child. Prior to Covid, most of her teaching was done in home kitchens and small settings. Going virtual has been a surprisingly wonderful experience as it has allowed students to cook along in their own kitchens with their own equipment. With small class sizes, Andrea has been able to use her extensive teaching experience to be able to coach and encourage success - even virtually.
