Modini Mayacamas Preserves (ACR)

ACR's Modini Mayacamas Preserves

Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit environmental conservation and education organization. It was founded in 1962 to safeguard Bolinas Lagoon from irresponsible development, leading the way for the protection of Tomales Bay.

Today, Audubon Canyon Ranch acts as guardian of four main nature preserves in Marin, Sonoma and Lake counties. These 5,000 acres of tidal flats, marshlands, coastal prairie, oak woodlands and redwood groves provide significant habitat to wildlife and have been placed in our care by generous donors to steward and protect in perpetuity.

ACR's programs and preserves are made possible thanks to the contribution of thousands of hours of volunteer service, and donations from caring individuals, foundations and businesses. Consider becoming a member of ACR today!

About Modini Mayacamas Preserves, Healdsburg

ACR’s Modini Mayacamas Preserves encompass 3,000 acres of wildlands in Northern Sonoma County in the shadow of Mount St. Helena. The preserves feature a rich blend of biologically diverse habitats, including oak woodlands, pine forests, grasslands, chaparral, riparian forests, natural springs, wild streams and serpentine outcrops that support several rare plants.

A favorite spot for birding, the Preserves are traversed by Pine Flat Road, a public county road that meanders through the property. Visitors can enjoy the views and birdwatch from roadside pullouts or join us for expert-led hikes throughout the year. To obtain a permit for limited off-road hiking, attend our Access Orientation, available monthly.
