About Sarah Talbot

Sarah Talbot began her musical journey as a child when she was inspired to learn the flute, closely followed by the piano. Her passion for music continued throughout her education leading her to gain a BMus degree from Cardiff, specialising in classical singing.

Originally from Cardiff, Sarah used the vast musical opportunities available in the city to develop her musical talents. Performance opportunities ranged from singing with the BBC choir, Welsh National Opera and the sister choir ‘Serendipity’ of the worldwide success that is ‘Only Men Aloud’. Her successes gave her the opportunity to sing at the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as the experience of singing at the Maida Vale studios recording with highly successful composers.

Sarah has always been passionate about working with children and after completing her degree, she had the opportunity to go and work in France. This opportunity allowed her to work with a local singing school teaching and supporting both children and adults with their singing. Sarah gained some experience teaching English and Music in local schools and it was then that she decided on pursuing a qualification in teaching. Sarah gained a PGCE in middle years teaching at Bath Spa with a specialism in music. Her teaching career began in Wiltshire but she has now settled in Poole with her family.

Although music is her specialism, Sarah has worked in local schools in which she has not only been a primary class teacher, but has also been in charge of Literacy across the curriculum. She has also taught singing with local stage schools, putting on performances at local venues such as the Lighthouse, Poole.

Having now had a family of her own, Sarah has decided to take a new direction in working with Freestyle. She has two young sons, aged 1 and 4 so this has given her a new enthusiasm to share her love of music with pre-school children.
