Michelle Dionne Thompson, JD, PhD

Michelle Thompson, JD, PhD is a Life Coach and Adjunct Professor in the CUNY system. As a life coach, she assists people in academia and law find their passions, reset their priorities, and plan the life that they want. She also provides support for writing projects.

Michelle practiced poverty and labor law for seven years in Washington, D.C. with non-profit organizations. While she loved her practice, she had a research project she could not shake and wanted to preserve her health and well-being. She then earned a PhD in History at New York University.

As an Adjunct Professor, Michelle teaches courses about the African Diaspora and the Caribbean. Her research interests are Jamaica, Jamaica's Maroon populations, resistance, law, and land. She is currently working on articles for publication as well as a book based on these themes.
