Our Organization

Mark Foehringer Dance Project|SF (MFDP|SF) is a contemporary dance organization based in San Francisco currently in its 24th season . It incorporated as a nonprofit in 2002. It has as its mission to carry forward the artistic vision of founder and director Mark Foehringer.

After working as a teacher, ballet master, choreographer and director for several professional dance companies and schools, Foehringer felt the need to create Mark Foehringer Dance Project|SF as a place to create his own brand of dance work. From the onset Foehringer wanted an organization that engages the community through his choreographed works created for local artists, presented works by other local artists, collaborates with local performing organizations and teaches dance students of all ages.

Hence, MFDP|SF’s has as its mission to bring together artists and audiences, Teachers and students, other organization and communities in a creative process dedicated to opportunity and new ideas. MFDP|SF seeks to present diverse dance work to a variety of communities on an annual basis. MFDP|SF presents Foehringer’s contemporary and dance theater work. Additionally, it produces an annual outdoor admission free dance festival in Golden Gate Park called Dancing in the Park SF; a choreography mentoring workshop for emerging dance makers called Emerging Choreographers Forum SF; Family programming such as: Nutcracker Sweet and Alice in Wonderland.
