Lydia Place was founded in 1989 and has been serving homeless families and households for the past 28 years. Today, Lydia Place operates three major housing programs, a parenting support program, and collaborative housing case management programs that serve over 175 households at any given time.

Lydia Place holds long standing partnerships and contracts with Whatcom County, the City of Bellingham, the United Way, Bellingham Housing Authority, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of Whatcom County and Interfaith Coalition for provision of these services to homeless families.

At Lydia Place, we believe that housing is a basic human right. We believe that in order for an individual to reach their true potential, this basic human right must be met. Further, we recognize that inequality and oppression exist and are among the root causes of poverty and homelessness. We believe that collaboration with individuals, families, and the community is the key to sustained independence. These beliefs are the core of our service provision philosophy.
