Laura Hooper Calligraphy

Laura Hooper Leader has owned & operated Laura Hooper Calligraphy since 2002 serving clients with hand calligraphy & stationery needs for weddings, showers, events & more. In addition to custom wedding & event projects, Laura Hooper Calligraphy also offers a line of lifestyle & party goods featuring Laura’s lettering on a variety of items for everyday & special occasion use, including greeting cards, coasters, napkins, stir sticks, mugs & more.

Laura teaches the art of pointed-pen calligraphy at in-person workshops around the US & Canada with her sister, Alyssa. Their online shop also offers Laura’s recommended tools for learning the art of calligraphy, including her personally curated starter kit + video tutorial for at home learning. As of October 2016, over 5,000 kits have shipped worldwide and more than 3,000 students have attended Laura & Alyssa’s in-person workshops. Additionally, over 2,200 individuals have learned remotely through the Modern Calligraphy Summit.

Laura has been practicing the art of calligraphy for over 20 years, with her graceful scripts highly sought after in the wedding industry. She has worked with countless couples, offering comprehensive services from envelope addressing to invitation & stationery design as well as reception signage & details. Laura has worked with high profile celebrities and corporate clients, and her work has been published in numerous magazines, including The Knot, Inside Weddings, Martha Stewart Weddings and Town & Country Weddings, among others. Laura Hooper Calligraphy has been featured on a variety of blogs including Style Me Pretty, Style Me Pretty Living, Green Wedding Shoes, 100 Layer Cake, Inspired by This, Glitter Guide, Wedding Chicks & more.

Laura Hooper Calligraphy operates out of our studio in Old Town Alexandria in the DMV area. Laura resides in Virginia with her husband, Jeremy, and their two dogs, Kepler & Tycho, while Alyssa resides in Los Angeles with her fiancé Jesse.
