La Señora Research Institute de Rancho Boca de Santa Monica

La Señora reconnects our community to its history via interactive, historically accurate educational programs designed to encompass all age and demographic groups

Exploring our cultural heritage layers unearths the changes each Era has brought to one small Mexican Rancho.

The 1840's brought Alta California's  Pascual Marquez Family Cemetery and the Santuario San Lorenzo Native Garden

In  the 19th Century we re-discover an artistic and social mecca--a John Byers Hacienda, built   for Jose Mojica one of Edison’s Three Tenors, lends the  perfect acoustics of its Music Salon to enhance our chamber concerts,

The 1930-40's  brought Anita Loos' eclectic salons filled with the creative, intellectual and famous people from around the world; the 50's found  Lyle Wheeler (Art Director nominated for 34 Academy Awards) making the hacienda his home. The over 600 films produced by these "Old Hollywood" Legends are screened  in our 50-seat theater where we also hold our Lecture Series.
