Kofi Hayford, bass, described as possessing a “rich,” and “stentorian bass voice” (National Herald) also produces a distinct sound - easily identified for its unique timbre. He is swiftly building his reputation as an accomplished young bass. Kofi recently made his debut as Sarastro in The Magic Flute at Lincoln Center. He also recently made his preliminary Carnegie Hall debut singing at Weill Recital Hall. Kofi sang the inaugural performance of the Greek Opera Olympic Flame singing the roles of Prometheus and Hyllos at Lincoln Center. Notable solo engagements include: The Monk and The Grand Inquisitor in Verdi’s Don Carlo; Bass Soloist in Mozart’s Requiem; Count Rodolfo in Bellini’s La Sonnambula; Raimondo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor; Bass Soloist in Rossini’s Stabat Mater; Baltassare in Donizetti’s La Favorita; Count Monterone and Sparafucile from Verdi’s Rigoletto; Angelotti, Sacristan and the Jailer in Puccini’s Tosca; and the Doctor and Baron Douphol in La Traviata. A Songfest Young Artist, Kofi his Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance from University at Buffalo. Since graduating, Kofi has sung roles with many opera companies in the East Region including: Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Chelsea Opera,, Vocal Productions NYC, Central Florida Lyric Opera, Loft Opera (ensemble), Buffalo Opera Unlimited, Amore Opera, Dell’Arte Opera, MORE Opera, NY Lyric Opera Theatre, Erie Opera Theatre, West Side Opera Society, New York Opera Theatre and several others.Future engagements can be found at:.
