Kathy Prater

I am a Reading Specialist and Dyslexia Interventionist at the IGNITE Dyslexia Clinic at T.K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability.  TK Martin is located on the Mississippi State University campus.

I am a parent of a child with dyslexia and a wife of a husband with dyslexia.  I have lived in your shoes and walked through the trials.  I began working with dyslexia in 1997 after my son was diagnosed and have learned on my own as much as I can.  I have a Master's Degree in Reading and Literacy and am currently working towards my Doctorate Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  My focus will continue to be on reading and literacy while supporting learners with dyslexia.

The IGNITE Dyslexia Clinic was established as a summer camp in may of 2017 and a clinic offering intervention services in August of 2017.  We currently have 3 interventionists and are adding parent and educator sessions to help support families with dyslexia.  The IDC is currently funded through a grant from Families First.
