Kandice Jacobs, CEO of Kandice Jacobs Creations, Incorporated

Having successfully realized my goal of becoming a published author, and simultaneously launching a career as a keynote speaker & facilitator, four years ago I transitioned into a new field of continued service within the death care industry. Now, as a dually licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer, I consider it a great privilege to be able to hold hands, wipe eyes, and place my arms around sagging shoulders. I am humbled by the opportunities to lead, guide or advise during the most challenging time in the life of families. It is an honor to receive an invitation into the lives of grieving families. I hold inviolate the sacred trust for confidential information, the care and final disposition of dearly beloved loved ones, as well as the specific discharge of a family's arrangement requests.

As a result of my experiences serving families over the past three years, and now serving as a caregiver for my father in his battle against Alzheimer's, I feel particularly compelled to assist my fellow man/woman along the full spectrum of life, not just in the wake of death. Therefore, I am committed to: equipping individuals/families with the necessary tools to make important decisions prior to the advent of life-limiting illness or death -- by closing the gap in community education regarding end-of-life care and end-of-life options regarding disposition & ceremony; to facilitating community support systems for the bereaved; to fostering more collaborative relationships between medical professionals and death care professionals; and to advocating for better training for mortuary students and higher quality employment opportunities for new license holders entering the profession. My professional motto is, "Healing hearts and changing lives through servant leadership!"
