Jumpstart NorCal Young Professionals Board

Jumpstart is a national nonprofit organization working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Toward this goal, Jumpstart recruits and trains college students, called Corps members, to help preschool-aged children in low-income neighborhoods develop the language, literacy, and social skills they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Jumpstart inspireschildren to learn, young adults to teach and lead, families to become more involved in their children’s education, and communities to progress together.

Headquartered in Boston, Jumpstart was founded in 1993 and has established regional offices in Chicago, New York, Boston, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Jumpstart is proud to be a member of the national AmeriCorps network and is funded through a diverse mix of private foundations, corporations, individuals, and government support. Jumpstart has served Northern California since 1999 and has grown from a program serving 100 children in San Francisco to now reaching more than 1,000 children in San Francisco and Oakland.

Jumpstart Northern California's Young Professionals Board works to advance Jumpstart's mission by assisting with local opportunities for fundraising and strengthening organizational visibility. For more information and how to apply to become a member, please email
