Jose Paredes was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. As part of his culture, Jose grew up dancing merengue and bachata, embracing the native rhythms of the Dominican Republic. At the age of 12, Jose migrated to the United States with his family. While living in New York City, he was recruited to perform a jazz routine. This experience sparked his interest in other types of dances, like hip hop and contemporary. A few years later, life took a turn bringing him and his family to Philadelphia, PA. After Jose finished high school in Philadelphia, he decided to return to his native land of the Dominican Republic to pursue a career in tourism. While attending college in Santo Domingo, Jose learned the cumbia style of salsa. After finishing his studies, Jose moved back to Philadelphia where he expanded his knowledge about the varying styles of salsa. In 2006, life brought Jose to North Carolina. Captivated by the different styles of dance he learned about in Philly, Jose shifted his dance focus to mambo on 2 salsa with Mambo Dinamico Dance Company. Shortly after joining Mambo Dinamico Dance Company, he became an instructor. In July of 2015, Jose started his own dance team that focuses mainly on dominican style bachata, honoring his roots, and Mambo.
