Jill Murphy Long Filmmaker

At 49, I began making movies that matter. I took the long road to get here.

I started working with words and ideas in LA as a Creative Director/Copywriter and then in the Colorado Rockies as an author of five books and as an English professor.

Now in Portland, Oregon I am the writer, director, and producer on my films and also a frugal producer for other filmmakers’ productions.

My film company, JML Films makes movies based on the ethics of Justice, Mercy and Love.

I write female-centric scripts, run ‘green’ film sets, and include this eco message with my characters’ actions.

I love being on film set and will stay.

Since leaving the champagne powder snow at 10,000+ feet, I have produced 25 films from 90-seconds to 72 minutes with my incredible casts and crews.

We have produced comedies and dramas, historical, inspirational, and time-travel movies and others that spotlight women’s rights, environmental, and societal issues.

We are a non-profit in the state of Pennsylvania with our fiscal sponsor, Humanitarian Social Innovations.

Our Pay-it-Forward programs will benefit the residents affected by the 1979 nuclear meltdown at Three Mile Island.
