Jess Godwin is a singer/songwriter proud to call Chicago her home. She is a recipient of one of this years esteemed 3arts awards. In 2014 she started the "Godwin Anthology," a series of DIY videos, artwork, service projects, and stories dedicated to the important people in her life. Over the past six years, Jess has released five EPs and one self-produced album. Her original songs, Fool Me Once, Be a Light, and Little Yes were recently licensed in dance routines on Lifetime's Dance Moms. Last year, Kristin Chenoweth invited Jess to sing a duet with her the Chicago Theatre. Jess's two singles, Katy's Side and Out With the Old, were featured on Keeping up with the Kardashians. Her song Desperate World is currently being licensed on Michelle Phan's Youtube channel. Jess's voice can be heard on the Wisconsin-based Patrick Cudahy radio jingle and the Lia Sophia theme song.
Jess has performed on several Chicago stages including Mayne Stage, Double Door, Subterranean, Wilmette Theatre, and Bottom Lounge. Tour cities include NY, LA, Atlanta, SXSW, VOODOOFEST, Denver, Toronto, Detroit, Boston, Vermont, and Philadelphia. In addition to her solo music career, she is also one half of Sinfolk, a Chicago-based duo that released its debut EP this June. Jess recently signed to Razor&Tie as a songwriter.
As an actress, Jess has been on stage with Writers Theatre (Company), Northlight Theatre (Shining Lives, Snapshots), Music Theater Co. (Pippin), Court Theatre (Carousel), Porchlight Music Theatre (Gypsy, A Wonderful Life, Sunday in the Park with George), Steppenwolf (Lady Madeline), Pegasus Players (Tick...Tick...BOOM!), and Bohemian Theatre Ensemble (The Wild Party, The Life, Songs for a New World). When she is not performing, Jess teaches private voice lessons and is on faculty for The Cherubs high school program at Northwestern University.
