Jefferson Center for Holistic Management, Fibershed, & Stemple Creek Ranch
The Jefferson Center is a Savory Global Network Hub serving Northern California and Nevada. Husband and wife team, Spencer and Abbey Smith, work to empower communities through ecological regeneration. They grew up on commercial cattle ranches in Northern California. Their daughter, Maezy Smith, is a seventh generation Northern Californian. They practice and teach Holistic Management so that the land and lifestyle they love will be here for seven more generations.
Fibershed develops regional and regenerative fiber systems on behalf of independent working producers, by expanding opportunities to implement carbon farming, forming catalytic foundations to rebuild regional manufacturing, and through connecting end-users to farms and ranches through public education.
Stemple Creek Ranch is nestled in the coastal hills of Northern California near the town of Tomales. It has been home to the Poncia family for four generations. Their strategy is aimed at creating a sustainable future for the fifth generation of their family. They actively preserve sensitive wildlife habitat, maintain and restore natural watershed areas, utilize cutting edge solar and gravity flow technology, and practice an intensive schedule of rotational grazing.
