ioby is a crowd-resourcing platform for citizen-led neighbor-funded projects. Our mission is to strengthen neighborhoods by supporting the leaders in them who want to make positive change, engaging their neighbors, one block at a time.

They work directly with people like you and me to improve the lives of everyone in all neighborhoods.

Since we started ioby has supported more than 40 vacant lots become transformed into urban farms and gardens, we have supported more than 50 food and gardening projects in public schools, and nearly 90% of all food projects on ioby have been located in recognized food deserts.

Feeling inspired? Learn more about ioby’s leaders:

SWAG Garden: a thriving urban community farm that today educates around 700 local students per year, sells wonderful fresh produce at its own market, and has become a source of great pride and pleasure in the South Ward of Newark.

462 Halsey Street Community Garden: A collaborative effort between residents and businesses of Bedford-Stuyvesant to transform a vacant lot for almost 20 years, into a thriving community garden.

Allergic to Salad - Kids Get Cooking: In hands-on, activity-filled cooking lessons we explore local, seasonal, vegetarian, nut-free, and often soy- and lactose-free international cuisine with children. We're less concentrated on drilling in "what's good for us" and more on finding out that cooking is fun (by cooking healthy recipes)!
