In 2003, Lena Forster founded International Ballet with a mission to preserve the beauty and art form of classic ballet pieces and performances. Since then, International Ballet has sought to represent the original art form dating back to 15th-century Europe, while still promoting classical ballet's prominence in the modern world. International Ballet is now widely known in the Upstate for its adherence to the classical and traditional roots of ballet and has brought several classic productions to the community, including The Nutcracker, Giselle, Coppélia and Don Quixote. In addition to its own productions, the company participates in community events such as Artisphere and Holiday at Peace. International Ballet maintains several Outreach Programs, including its Special Needs and Scholarship initiatives, as well as its newest program, Storytime Ballet, hosted by The Greenville County Library. The company works closely with its affiliated training school, International Ballet Academy.
