Historic Georgetown, Inc

HGI is a not for profit organization which was formed by individuals who shared a passion for historic preservation and place… the Georgetown-Silver Plume National Historic Landmark District (NHLD). In pursuit of their passion, these individuals established HGI in 1970 to preserve the inherited character, charm and beauty of Georgetown and its unique role in the development of the Rocky Mountain West. Over the ensuing years, HGI acquired the following five properties to interpret the residential life of the 19th Century and promoted the overall preservation of the NHLD:  Hamill House, Bowman White House, Kneisel House, Tucker Rutherford House, and Johnson Cabin.  Our mission is to preserve and encourage the preservation of historic buildings, objects, sites and areas relating to the history of Georgetown Colorado; to promote an awareness of and respect for all that is historically and architecturally significant about Georgetown; and to encourage the appropriate management and conservation of the natural setting of Georgetown for the enrichment of present and future generations.
