Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia

Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia (HUC) celebrates over 4,000 years of Greek culture through programs, professional interaction and social fraternity. Paideia— the lifelong pursuit of education— is our driving force.

HUC is a nonprofit organization that has flourished since 1936 in our City of Brotherly Love. Some 350 professionals, primarily of Greek descent, comprise our membership roster. A love of things Greek, from ancient to modern, and a love of learning are the common threads that bind us together.

The mission of our Club is both educational and social. Each year, beginning in September and concluding the following June, our governing Board of Directors plans a variety of activities and events. Members particularly enjoy learning about subjects and ideas that are rooted in Hellas/Greece—and celebrating the Greek culture! We strive to carry forward our rich and ancient heritage and to keep Greek culture thriving in the Philadelphia area.

We promote learning through our Scholarship Program. Undergraduate and graduate university students, primarily of Greek descent, who reside in the 15 counties surrounding Philadelphia, are encouraged to apply for these grants. We are very proud that our Scholarship Program is now the largest grant program among Hellenic-American organizations in our region.

Social events are also important on our calendar of events. The Annual Dinner Dance, held the first Saturday in March, is a gala organized to promote social fraternity within the Greater Philadelphia Greek-American community. It is also the occasion to honor an individual with our Achievement Award someone who exemplifies the ancient and modern Hellenic ideals of our Club.
