Helen Hipp

Helen Hipp is the author of the children's book series A Different Kind of Safari, a unique book series featuring Rosie the pink hippo, inspired by a once-in-a-lifetime trip led by the author's father to Africa with her 14-year old son Ray, who has special needs. Helen has created a very effective way to teach children the value of seeing things as they appear compared to how they really are.

She received her M.A. in counseling and began her career as a psychotherapist to help people find answers for their life problems. Her work eventually evolved into a coaching practice, WithinU Life Coaching, focusing on individuals with special needs and their families. Appointed by Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin to the Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, Helen continues to use her 13+ years of counseling experience and 20+ years’ experience as a successful advocate for individuals with special needs by helping them reveal their innate ability to solve difficult situations.

She has also authored articles for Family Works and Washington Family Magazine and has been a contributor as a special needs consultant to FOX44 News in Burlington, Vermont. Her new adventure books, A Different Kind of Safari combines all the best of Helen’s beliefs in a tale that celebrates differences. This popular children’s book puts into words the essence of Helen’s teachings—addressing the many questions life asks by offering up lighthearted, ever-changing perspectives that transform personal challenges into opportunities.
