HeidiTAPS offers tap dancing lessons and classes to students of all ages

and levels of experience in the city of New Orleans, and surrounding areas.

Our mission is to celebrate, promote, and preserve the art of tap dancing in the birthplace of jazz.

Emmy Award and Big Easy Award Winning Heidi Malnar leads weekly classes for adults and teens in the Uptown and Bywater neighborhoods of New Orleans. Heidi is also available for private lessons, choreographic and teaching residencies, and master classes both in tap dancing and rhythmic analysis.

Rhythm is a universal language, and tap dancing is accessible to people of all ages and levels of experience.  We offer classes, workshops & tap jams year-round with the hopes of engaging

our unique musical community in shared rhythm-making and dance.



Heidi Malnar is an Emmy Award and Big Easy Award winning dancer and choreographer from Chicago who has been living, tap dancing and choreographing in New Orleans for the past seven years! She is the Founder & Artistic Director of Gulf Coast Theatre on Tap– New Orleans’ Premier Rhythm Tap Company, producing works such as Love Taps, Hoofing for Heroes, Neutral Ground and appearing at Jazz Fest for the second consecutive year.  Heidi also operates HeidiTAPS, Theatre on Tap's tap dance training program for adults and teens living in New Orleans.  She is currently on faculty at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), teaching in the dance and musical theatre departments. Heidi is also the resident choreographer at The National WWII Museum’s BB’s Stage Door Canteen and has also choreographed productions for Le Petit Theatre, See ‘Em Onstage Theatre Company, and Rivertown Theatres. Before coming to New Orleans Heidi performed with Chicago-based Jump Rhythm Jazz Project and Chicago Tap Theatre.
