Heidi Piili

Heidi Piili, Docent, Dr., has been working 10 years in field of additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing (3DP) as research scientist at LUT University, Lappeenranta, Finland. Heidi´s special field of interest is additive manufacturing of metals. Heidi has been also educating M.Sc. students and doctoral students in field of AM3DP since 2013. Heidi also worked with industrial metal AM3DP for year 2017.

Heidi is huge AM3DP enthusiast, and has been participating into several national and international lectures, seminars, conferences etc. in field of AM3DP during 10 years she has been involved in this area. Heidi has also established 3D printing club for children and youth in January 2016 in her home town Imatra, Finland.

Education of science and technology of young females is very close to Heidi´s heart. Heidi wishes that AM3DP could be a way so that more young females, and women generally, could enter working in field of technology, and moreover to start to study science and technology.

Nea Kontoniemi

She has followed Finnish organizations adopting 3D metal printing techniques and organized both educational and commercial activities related to additive manufacturing.

Right now, Nea can’t wait to learn more about the 3D metal printer installed lately at her work place. She is keen to find other women (as well as men) interested in 3D printing and exploring the potential and practical solutions it offers together.
