Healing Racism Working Group of Lancaster Friends Meeting

Established in 1947, Lancaster Friends Meeting has grown to over 150 members. Services are held at 8:00 and 10:00AM each Sunday. Child care is available. We practice what is known as unprogrammed worship in which we sit in silence seeking to be receptive to the Divine Spirit through the Inward Light. If vocal ministry is offered, it is done so spontaneously by anyone present who feels called by the Spirit to speak. We are also described as  "nonpastoral," since there is no formal clergy. You can learn more about Lancaster Friends Meeting at our website:

The Healing Racism Working Group is a small assembly of Friends from within the Meeting who are dedicated to recognizing and working to heal racism through social action and education. Healing Racism Working Group has as its purpose to recognize and work to heal racism. This work involves both inward (spiritual) and outward (social action) components. Efforts are focused on three separate but related dimensions of racism: (1) at the individual level (2) community (the Meeting and Lancaster area) (3) institutions and society at large
