GW Office of Sustainability

The GW Office of Sustainability provides a strategic home for sustainability initiatives that address the university's operational impact on the planet. We work with stakeholders to set and strive for university-wide goals on urban sustainability in areas such as energy management, transportation, construction, living, working, and community engagement. Our approach has been to innovate, pilot, and scale new models and technologies to create thriving ecosystems for all locally and globally. Home to programs that help students, staff, and faculty take action on campus and in the community, the Office also implements projects on behalf of the university administration such as the landmark Capital Partners Solar Project - three solar farms with 53.5MW of capacity that provide half of GW's electricity. This results in an estimated 30% reduction of GW's carbon footprint.
