Friends of the Edwards House (FOEH)

  • Advocates for the voluntary landmarking of additional places commonly considered to have historic and/or architectural value to our community. As part of this advocacy, identify and suggest ways to encourage and incentivize private property owners to choose to self-preserve our Village’s unique heritage, and also eliminate obstacles that discourage voluntary landmarking.
  • Educates the community on the value and advantages of voluntary landmarking, and work to dispel myths and misunderstandings that unjustifiably present barriers to property owners making the choice to preserve their structures and with them, our history and neighborhood character.
  • Celebrates the value and meaning of historic preservation by recognizing and promoting those who choose to pursue voluntary landmarking, and acknowledging their successful contribution to maintaining the desirable balance between tradition and progress.
