Family Worship Center

My name is Johnny H. Moore and I have been given the privilege of being called by God to be a Rural Pastor. I have been involved in ministry for over 30 years, including leading a Para-Church Ministry for 7 years, working on a Church Staff for 5 years and for the past 18 years, I have served as the Senior Pastor of Family Worship Center in Cairo, Georgia. My precious wife, Dianne has been my partner in marriage and ministry for 24 years. We have three wonderful children--Josh(21), a junior at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee; Jonathan(18), a senior at Cairo High School; and Anna Jordan (15), a freshman at Cairo High School. Ministry for us has been a family affair, with all our kids actively engaged using their gifts to do ministry.

Though I have been the Pastor of Family Worship Center since 1994, it wasn't until 1998 that I realized that my Calling was more than just a Call to Family Worship Center. I am confident that God's Call for me includes Family Worship Center and Cairo, Georgia, but I also know that God has called me to Rural America--" touch every small town in America". This can happen if somehow I can touch at least one Pastor in every small town. I am working hard, along with my team, to see this happen. This is the purpose of my blog. I am looking and searching for Rural Pastor's!

If you are a Rural Pastor, then you know, like me, that the small town is definitely different than the big city--and pastoring in the small town is no easy task. I do not, in any way, claim to have all the answers, but having grown up and lived in a small town for 20 years, returning and pastoring in a small town for 18 years and being a student of the small town for 15 years, I have learned a few things about the small town and what it takes to be a fruitful and effective Rural Pastor. is a blog that I will be writing every week to share insights and information to help Rural Pastor's build great Churches in small towns. I will be addressing specific issues that are common to Rural Pastors and discussing subjects and sharing ideas that have helped us grow our Church and touch our town. I also have materials and resources that have been developed in the trenches through 18 years of pastoring in a small town. These resources work--and they can be purchased at the store.

So, I encourage you to check out our blog every week at and tell all your friends--especially all your Rural Pastor friends, to check it out too. Send us your questions and comments and if there are things you are dealing with that you want us to write about, let us know and we will give it a shot. If you would like to know more about Family Worship Center, then take a look at You can also follow me on twitter @johnnyhmoore and @theruralpastor. Until next time, I remain...
