Family Promise in Anoka County

We are an Interfaith Hospitality Network(IHN) that partners with local congregations to provide food, shelter, and hospitality to families in Anoka County who are experiencing homelessness. Families can stay in the program for up to 90 days. During that time, they receive support and advocacy through case management to find a permanent, stable home. After exiting the program, they can take advantage of ongoing supportive services to help maintain stability. Local congregations provide space in their buildings for evening and overnight accommodations. Our Day Center building is used by families to bathe, launder their clothes, receive case management, and look for housing and jobs. Volunteers give their time by providing transportation, meals, and sharing hospitality.

The Family Promise program is a cost-effective way for communities to address the challenge of family homelessness by using existing resources. Family Promise is not just about getting families into housing, but addressing the underlying issues that can lead to homelessness.
